After this year’s success, the Mediaverse team are looking forward to AMEC’s redesigned 2019 awards. The International Association for Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC) recently announced new-look award categories, expanding from 22 to 25 to include additions such as the ‘Step change award’ for the best improvement of a measurement journey, an award for the best use of new technology in communications measurement, and team of the year awards for small, medium and large-sized communications, research & measurement teams.
The AMEC awards recognise excellence across research, measurement and analytics. Mediaverse has won 19 AMEC Awards, most recently in the Plain English category at the 2018 AMEC Global Summit in Barcelona. The project, which evaluated public messaging and the influence of stakeholders in the 2017 Australian flu season, was awarded silver in the Plain English award for simplicity in campaign effectiveness measurement and reporting.
The AMEC Global Summit is an industry event for communications measurement professionals from all over the world designed to recognise the best in media measurement and evaluation practices. Attendees include some of the leading names in measurement from across the globe.
AMEC, and the media intelligence industry, have enjoyed rapid growth over the past ten years. AMEC held its first conference in Berlin in 2007 with 60 attendees – fast forward to Barcelona in 2018 and 320 people attended the conference representing 26 countries – quite a growth spurt!
Companies are continually looking at ways to refine and enhance their communications and measurement is a key element in the communications mix.
The Barcelona summit covered the theme ‘Measurement and the three I’s: Insights, innovation and integration driving the future’. Discussions revolved around the growing inclusion of AI in the measurement landscape and how best to derive insights that can be used to enhance communications strategies. The summit also looked at the influence of fake news and disinformation in the media industry and the impact this has on communications and corporate affairs.
AMEC’s 2019 summit, to be held in Prague during May, will continue to delve into aligning technology with actionable insights through the theme ‘DATA: Analytics, Algorithms & Augmentation: Measuring the effectiveness of communication’.
